Courtney Elizabeth Whitmore, known as Stargirl (often called "Stars" or "Star"), is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, the character's name and personality were patterned after Johns' sister Courtney, who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996.
