In terms of the main man at DC ... no not Lobo, but the main creative guru at DC Entertainment, you can't get higher up than Jim Lee! Jim took over the CCO (Chief Creative Officer) position after Geoff Johns left to start his own production company in 2018. The two, however, remain close as Mad Ghost Productions, the company Johns created to produce shows like Titans and Stargirl, continue to work together on DCU properties. So when you are looking for top info on DCU creative properties, Jim Lee is THE GUY! In a press only event at NYCC, Jim spoke to a room full of reporters about the future of the DCU streaming service. When it came to the next live-action show, Jim gushed about Stargirl. Here's what he had to say:
Geoff Johns has been hard at work on Stargirl. They have completed principal photography. The season is done, it's on track to debut in 2020. We are still working on a few kinks, but we will share that information going forward. I am very very excited for this show, it's got a lot of heart. Obviously, it focuses on Stargirl, a teenage girl who found powers, but it also introduces a new version of the Justice Society. Basically you get to see these old members of the Justice Society and then you get to see these kids become new members. It's really exciting to see how Geoff is merging the old with the new and moving the mythology forward. There will be a lot there to unpack for any DC Fan!
Just hearing from Jim about his opinions on what Stargirl is going to bring to the table makes us think this show is going to have something for everyone! Can we fast forward to Christmas and then debut Stargirl already?
